5 Freeway Closure Canceled For South Orange County Friday

The closures would have affected nighttime traffic as a part of an ongoing freeway widening project.

LAKE FOREST, CA — Construction on the Interstate 5 freeway scheduled for Friday was canceled on Tuesday, as Orange County Transportation Authority crews finished a section of the freeway project ahead of schedule.

According to a news release, crews installed 12 girders, each roughly 126 feet long and weighing roughly 166,000 pounds, on the freeway between Alicia Parkway and El Toro Road in Lake Forest.
