Two people were seriously injured Tuesday when a vehicle drove into them while they were waiting at a bus stop.

The victims each suffered a major injury to one of their legs, according to Sgt. Jason Keller of the Orange County Sheriff's Department. He said the injuries might lead to amputations for both victims.

The incident took place at the corner of El Toro Road and Muirlands about 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

The driver of the vehicle who ran through the bus stop was an 81-year-old man, Keller said.

Although the injuries were major, they were not life threatening. Both victims were taken to Mission Hospital.
