ANAHEIM, CA — If you love Toontown the way it is, you have until March of 2022 to get as much as you can of the animated straight-out-of Roger Rabbit land. A theme park spokesperson tells us that the re-imagining will include more activities for families and young children to play together inside Disneyland Park.

Yes! When it reopens in 2023, you'll get to ride Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway and visit the homes of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy and Donald Duck will remain but still, there is much more family-friendly activity coming your way.

According to Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences And Products, Josh D'Amaro, the new land will include a place for families to "unplug," entirely at odds with the Galaxy's Edge device-heavy activities.

Here, Disneyland hopes to focus on "today's families with young children," according to the resort. Mickey's Toontown will feature new play experiences and open, grassy play spaces for everyone to unplug. Landscaping will be designed for family play and parental relaxation, he says.

"We are so excited to leverage Disney's powerful brand, develop new stories and share even more magical experiences with our guests," D'Amaro said. "The newly re-imagined Mickey's Toontown will be a welcoming place where families and younger guests can connect and play together in fun new ways."

With much of Disneyland's paved spaces, here expect "greener and more spacious" areas.

"The land will offer more play activities and attractions than ever before," he said.

Expect active play, tactile play and new experiences where kids can play, spin, splash, touch and listen. The most significant place for that is CenTOONial Park.

The park is sure to become the center icon for Mickey's Toontown, according to Imagineers.

The great minds of Disney are building a "dreaming tree," inspired by the tree a young Walt Disney would daydream under in his hometown.

Sculpted tree roots will provide an opportunity for children to play, crawl and explore, and undulating topography will offer rolling hills and a place to sit and dream, they said.
