Long Drive to Work? You're Not Alone

A new study shows almost 40 percent of Lake Forest commuters spend 30 minutes or more on the road to work.

According to a new study based on data from the U.S. Census, about 38 percent of Lake Forest commuters spend at least 30 minutes getting to work each day.  

And that's just a one-way trip: Assuming commuters take the same route home, that's more than an hour on the road each day for more than a third of the city's workforce.

The study shows that an unlucky 14 percent of commuters in Lake Forest clock at least 90 minutes on the road each work day.

Nationally, the study estimated that on average, only 28.7 percent of commuters in mid-sized American cities (such as Lake Forest) can make it to work in fewer than 15 minutes; 15.5 percent trek for more than 45 minutes to get to their work site.
