Man Charged In Lake Forest New Year's Killing

A 25-year-old man was charged Tuesday with killing a fellow Lake Forest resident in an alley early on New Year's Day.

LAKE FOREST, CA — A 25-year-old man was charged Tuesday with killing a fellow Lake Forest resident in an alley early on New Year's Day.

Christian Vidal DeLeon was arrested Friday in connection with the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Nathan Corado, said Carrie Braun of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

Corado was shot about 1:25 a.m. Jan. 1 near Second Street and Village Drive in Lake Forest and pronounced dead at an area hospital a short time later.

DeLeon was charged with murder with a sentencing enhancement for the discharge of a firearm causing death.

DeLeon pleaded not guilty Tuesday at a hearing in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana and was ordered to return to court for a pretrial hearing in the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.

DeLeon was being held on $1 million bail.

Investigators did not disclose the possible motive or relationship between the two, Braun said.
