Suspect Shot By Deputy At Lake Forest Shopping Center
A deputy was also hospitalized after being bitten by an Orange County Sheriff's Department K-9 at the scene.
LAKE FOREST, CA — An Orange County Sheriff's Department deputy and a felony suspect are recovering today following an officer-involved shooting in Lake Forest Thursday afternoon.
The suspect, who was wanted in connection with a "domestic incident" was shot at a Lake Forest strip mall shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday as deputies attempted to arrest him, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
"A handgun was recovered at the scene, and the suspect was taken to the hospital, where he is in surgery," the sheriff's department announced in a written statement.

Deputies were responding to a report of a possible domestic incident that occurred in Lake Forest on Wednesday. The sheriff's department released few details about the earlier incident, nor the moments leading up to the shooting at a shopping center near Trabuco and El Toro roads.
At the time of the shooting, a sheriff's K-9 team responded to the area, and a deputy was bitten by the dog. According to the sheriff's department, the bite was not connected to the shooting, and the injured deputy was treated at a nearby hospital.
