Wild Rivers Set To Open This Summer In Orange County: Report

Workers are racing to put the finishing touches on the water park as Wild Rivers announced it had to push back its original opening date.

IRVINE, CA — Wild Rivers is set to open sometime this summer at Irvine's Great Park as tickets for the water park are set to go on sale in July, the Orange County Register reported.

The park had to push back its original June 20 opening date, and a new one has not yet been chosen.

Mike Reidel, Wild Rivers owner, told the Register the park still needs to finish some work before it can open to the public, like setting up its water connection with the Irvine Ranch Water District and sealing and painting its pools.

The water park's opening comes amid a severe drought gripping California and the western United States. Water agencies across the state have imposed outdoor water restrictions for residents and the Los Angeles Times reported major water cutbacks could be on the horizon as water levels at the Colorado River's reservoirs plummets.
