LA MESA, CA — Gusty Santa Ana winds will slam the San Diego region this week, prompting a high wind warning for parts of the county.
The gusty conditions will begin late Tuesday evening and become more intense and widespread on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
A high wind watch is in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday until 7 p.m. Wednesday for the mountains and valleys, including La Mesa. Northeast winds from 25 to 35 mph are expected in those areas, according to the NWS. Wind gusts up to 60 mph are possible in the mountains and valleys, while isolated gusts up to 70 mph are possible in the mountains.

The winds will blow hard enough to potentially down trees and power lines and make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles, according to the NWS.
"Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on this situation," forecasters advised. "Fasten loose objects or shelter objects in a safe location prior to the onset of winds."
