LA MESA, CA — With Hurricane Hilary making its way toward Southern California, flooding is possible this weekend in La Mesa and across San Diego County.
The National Hurricane Center issued a Tropical Storm Watch Friday across the county, marking the first time such a warning has been issued for the region.
Hurricane Hilary, now a Category 4, is expected to weaken to a tropical storm when it reaches San Diego, bringing heavy rains, strong winds and hazardous surf conditions to the county. A tropical storm has not made landfall in California since 1939, according to the National Weather Service.
