La Mesa Makes Energy Saving Easy For Residents With Free DIY Kits
DIY Energy Saving and Sustainability Toolkits contain items to help residents kickstart their energy-saving journey.
LA MESA, CA — The city of La Mesa is making it easy for residents to save energy, conserve water, and reduce waste by providing DIY Energy Saving and Sustainability Toolkits for residents' use.
The toolkits, which can be checked out for free at either the La Mesa City Hall or Helix Water District, contain items such as as LED lightbulbs, a water-saving showerhead, four faucet aerators, and weatherstripping to help kickstart residents' energy-saving journey.
All the items in the kit are free to homeowners so they can start saving money while working toward a cleaner and greener home, the city of La Mesa said on its website regarding the program.

"The DIY Toolkit also contains a User Guide that includes step-by-step directions so that anyone can easily take advantage of all the tools and items contained in the toolkit," the city said. "Additionally, the user guide outlines other sustainability information and tips so you can make small adjustments that have a big impact."
Checking out a Toolkit is an easy process, the city said. Residents should start by making a reservation (which are required) online and can schedule a pick-up time between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday from La Mesa City Hall at 8130 Allison Avenue or Helix Water District at 7811 University Avenue.

Toolkits are available for checkout for two weeks, at which point the Toolkit and equipment must be returned.
