Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Car In East County

The vehicle's driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police, officials said.

EL CAJON, CA — Police Friday were investigating the death of a male pedestrian who was fatally struck by a car.

El Cajon Police Lt. Darrin Forster said officers and paramedics responded to a call regarding a pedestrian struck by a vehicle about 10:35 p.m. Thursday.

"The driver of a 2015 silver Toyota Camry struck a 34-year-old man at 700 E. Washington Ave. who died at the scene," said Forster. "The car driver remained on scene and was fully cooperative with the investigation."

Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected to have been factors in the collision.

The identify of the deceased man is being withheld pending notification of family.

El Cajon PD reminded people walking at night to obey all traffic control devices, only cross the street at designated, controlled intersections and to wear bright or light-colored clothing for visibility.
