Severe Thunderstorm Warning In Effect For La Mesa
Nickel-sized hail is possible, according to the National Weather Service. Strong wind gusts could reach 60 mph.
LA MESA, CA — A severe thunderstorm warning was issued Monday afternoon for parts of San Diego County, including La Mesa.
Radar indicated a severe thunderstorm at 12:53 p.m. near El Cajon, moving south at 25 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
The warning is in effect until 2 p.m. for Alpine, Chula Vista, Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, El Cajon, Escondido, Hillcrest, La Jolla, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, Linda Vista, Mission Valley, National City, North Park, Poway, Ramona, Rancho SanDiego, Santee, Tierrasanta, University City and Valley Center.

Nickel-sized hail is possible, according to the NWS. Strong wind gusts could reach 60 mph.
"For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building," the NWS advised. "Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay away from windows."
