Updated: Gas Line Ruptures In Moraga This Morning

A gas leak was reported at 8:56 a.m. at the intersection of Paseo Del Rio and Quintas Lane. The gas line is now capped.

UPDATE 2:00PM-

A gas line ruptured by a construction crew this morning in Moraga has been repaired, according to a PG&E spokeswoman.

Moraga-Orinda Fire District officials initially said a gas leak was reported at 8:56 a.m. at the intersection of Paseo Del Rio and Quintas Lane.

Fire crews isolated the area but no shelter-in-place order was issued.

PG&E crews also responded and squeezed the leaking half-inch service line closed shortly after 10 a.m., utility spokeswoman Tamar Sarkissian said.

Repairs have been completed on the line, she said.

Sarkissian said the line was broken during a third-party crew’s digging project.

Sarkissian wished to remind locals that 811 should be called to pinpoint underground gas lines before any digging is conducted.

MORAGA - A construction crew ruptured a gas line in a residential neighborhood in Moraga this morning, according to utility and fire officials.

Moraga-Orinda Fire District officials said a gas leak was reported at 8:56 a.m. at the intersection of Paseo Del Rio and Quintas Lane.

There was a single-engine response and fire crews isolated the area, but no shelter-in-place order was issued.

PG&E crews also responded and as of around 10 a.m. were still assessing the situation, utility spokeswoman Tamar Sarkissian said.

When the leak will be stopped has not yet been determined, Sarkissian said.

Sarkissian said the rupture was caused by a third-party crew’s digging project.

No further information was immediately available.
