Calif. Unemployment Rates Holds Steady
About 900,000 Californians were unemployed last month, EDD officials said.

The state's unemployment rate held steady in June at 4.7 percent, according to data from the California Employment Development Department. The June rate is about 1.5 percentage points below the rate for June 2016 and matches the record low numbers posted in November and December 2000, according to EDD officials.
About 900,000 Californians were unemployed last month, down by about 145,000 people compared with last June, EDD officials said. The unemployment rate is based on a survey of 5,500 California households and includes non-farm payroll jobs.
From June 2016 to June 2017, California added roughly 261,400 jobs, a 1.6 percent increase, according to EDD officials.The national unemployment rate was 4.4 percent in June, an increase of a .1 percentage point.
