Fatal Crash On Altamont Pass Slowed Saturday Traffic

BREAKING: A Sig-alert was issued and the right-hand lane was closed to accommodate emergency vehicles and the investigation of the crash.

LIVERMORE, CA — The right lane of eastbound Interstate Highway 580 in the area of the Altamont Pass reopened hours after a earlier Sig-alert was issued in the wake of a fatal crash, the California Highway Patrol said today. The crash happened around 7 a.m. just east of North Flynn Road on eastbound 580 in unincorporated Alameda County, according to the CHP. One person died in the collision, the CHP said.
