Fentanyl, Meth Seized During Livermore Traffic Stop: Police

Authorities allege hundreds of potentially lethal doses of fentanyl were found inside a vehicle pulled over for a broken tail light.

LIVERMORE, CA — Two people were arrested Wednesday after a routine traffic stop uncovered a substantial drug cache, according to Livermore police.

Police said an officer pulled over a gold Toyota Avalon with an inoperable brake light around 4:15 p.m. near First Street and Mines Road. Officers determined the passenger, Charles Golonko, 37, had an active misdemeanor warrant.

According to police, a search of the vehicle revealed fentanyl, methamphetamine, Xanax bars, a digital scale and dozens of empty small bags. Officials said the amount of fentanyl seized amounted to 965 lethal doses of the powerful synthetic opioid.

Golonko was booked into jail on suspicion of multiple drug-related crimes, including transportation of a controlled substance. Police said the vehicle's driver, identified as Cassandra Cornutt, 29, had three felony warrants and was also booked into jail.
