Firefighters Chase Down Acid Spill, Paint in the Arroyo and Mysterious Odor
Multiple incidents in east Livermore kept firefighters busy Tuesday morning.

Three incidents reported Tuesday in east Livermore made for a busy morning for firefighters:
- At 6:59 a.m. firefighters were sent to South Vasco Road near Industrial Way after a small container of an unknown substance fell onto the street. The contents of the gallon-sized container spilled, creating a vapor cloud, Battalion Chief Jeff Peters said. Northbound Vasco Road was temporarily shut down while a hazardous materials unit helped clean up the spill. The road reopened at 8:50 a.m.
- At 10 a.m. two engines responded to a report of a white substance in the Arroyo Mocho Creek. Firefighters determined it to be water-based paint and spent nearly two hours trying to find the origin of the spill. The incident was turned over to the California Department of Fish and Game.
- At 10:10 a.m., firefighters were sent to a building at the corner of Las Positas and South Vasco roads for a report of a mysterious odor. The building was temporarily evacuated. "It ended up not being anything," Peters said.
