Firefighters Contain Laundromat Fire

Witnesses say a dryer at a downtown laundromat burst into flames.

Firefighters on Monday afternoon extinguished a laundromat fire, Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Battalion Chief Joe Testa said.

At around 12:37 p.m., emergency crews were sent to the Bubble Brite laundromat, on South N Street between First and Second streets in downtown Livermore, for a report of a possible structure fire.

The laundromat and nearby businesses were evacuated while firefighters responded to the scene.

Sue Pinkston, who was washing her clothes at the laundromat during the incident, said one of the dryers burst into flames.

Several firefighters that arrived on scene pulled out a basket of clothes that appeared to be smoking from the dryer that caught fire. The firefighters hosed the basket of clothes down and the fire was contained minutes later.
