How To Recycle Your Holiday Tree In Livermore
There are a few options when it comes to recycling your Christmas tree in town this season. What to know.
LIVERMORE, CA — As the holiday season winds down, Livermore residents have several options for responsibly recycling or disposing of their holiday trees, with curbside recycling and charitable pickups available in the coming weeks.
Residents who want to support local Scouting programs can register for a Christmas tree pickup through the Scouts’ annual recycling effort. Registration is required and must be completed by Dec. 31. Trees collected through the program will be recycled.
For other disposal options, Livermore Sanitation outlined the following guidelines.

Natural trees:
Residents should remove all ornaments, lights, tinsel, garlands and tree stands before disposal. Trees may be placed curbside on a regular Livermore Sanitation collection day during the first two weeks of January or cut into smaller pieces and placed in a compost bin.

Livermore Sanitation Industries’ curbside tree collection runs Jan. 5 through Jan. 16. Trees must be placed at the curb by 6 a.m. on the resident’s regular service day during that period.
Artificial trees:
Artificial trees are not recyclable. Residents are encouraged to break them down and store them for future use.
Flocked trees:
Trees with artificial snow or flocking cannot be composted or recycled. Residents should remove the tree from its stand and contact Livermore Sanitation to schedule an on-call pickup for trash disposal.
