Las Positas College Hosts Business and Entrepreneurship Speaker
Las Positas College's guest speaker Corban Bell will present a talk inspiring young adults to succeed.

LIVERMORE, CA - Las Positas College is hosting 26-year-old business leader Corban Bell, who will present "Staying Ahead of Change: Think Big and Follow Through," an inspiring talk about success for young adults as part of the 4th Annual Business and Entrepreneurship Speaker Series. The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, in the Multi-Disciplinary Building Lecture Hall, Room 2420 at 3000 Campus Hill Drive in Livermore. Sponsored by the college's Business Studies program, the series is free and open to the public. Parking is $2. Seating is limited; early arrival is encouraged.
"Corban is an extraordinary leader who applies a seasoned entrepreneurial mindset to his career and values integrity above all," said Business Studies Program Coordinator Lisa Taylor Weaver, Ph.D. "I am sure our students will be inspired by his story."

Bell is a senior analyst with the Stanford Management Company, which invests and manages Stanford University's endowment and other financial assets.
During his talk, he will describe choices that led him to college, internships, his current position and his first professional job with KPMG, one of the largest audit, tax and advisory firms in the world. "I plan to share my personal experiences as an illustration of the power of choice and persistence in personal development," he said. "My goal in sharing these experiences is to inspire listeners to think big and follow through." Bell, who grew up in Alameda, has a strong track record of following this advice.

Before he graduated from Grambling State University in 2013, Bell already had a long list of accomplishments. In addition to completing three corporate management internships at KPMG, he led a winning team of interns in the National Intern Community Service Challenge, was active in the National Association of Black Accountants and created an innovative recycling project at his college that raised more than $50,000 over three years and won the 2012-2013 Toyota Green Initiative Contest. He was recognized as one of KPMG's "Young Leaders," described as "promising, energetic, successful people under 30, who have distinguished themselves through extraordinary leadership and early achievement."
The Business and Entrepreneurship Speaker Series brings Bay Area business leaders to campus to share their expertise with students and the community. Business Studies offers degree and certificate programs, career and workforce training and transfer preparation to four-year colleges and universities. Programs include Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, Administrative Medical Assistant, Bookkeeping, Business Entrepreneurship, Retailing, Retail Management and Supervisory Management.
