Livermore Childrens' Fair this Saturday

This Saturday, the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District invites the public to come out for a day of family fun at its annual Children's Fair.

The free event, chalk full of free make-it-and-take-it crafts, food booths and local performances takes place Sept. 14 from 10-5 p.m. at 4444 East Ave., Livermore.

"It’s a great community event for families and kids to learn what some of the services that are free to them in Livermore and Tri-Valley," says LARP Recreation Supervisor Mo Kline.

The event, which began more than 20 years ago at another location grew into a two-day event and, in 2005 moved to the Livermore Community Center and was condensed to a single day event.

"We want to get people excited about the community center," Kline says. 

Various vendors will be present. Pony rides, petting zoo, train rides, gem mining and bouncy houses will also be offered, at a fee.

The Livermore Police Department will be on hand doing car seat checks and the K-9 unit will be there doing a demonstration with his K-9 police dog. The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department will also be out there. 

"It’s either free or inexpensive activities that everyone can participate in," Kline says. "It's a nice, fun day. It gets pretty busy."

No pets allowed at the event.
