Livermore Comes Together to Support Family of Teen Killed in Crash

Memorial funds, tributes on Facebook among local efforts to support family of Livermore High School student who died last week in a car crash.

Nicole Altman runs the "David Goddard RIP" Facebook page. She says on the page that she created it to help people heal after David, 17, was killed in a solo-vehicle crash last week.

Nicole, who grew up around the corner from David, writes:

I made this page in honor of David's memory so please post pics stories and let's celebrate his life...I just had a feeling in my gut I needed to do something to help and this is what came to my mind. I just really like helping people and especially his family is the main reason I did this is so they could always come on here and get to see how many people care about him and want to support this.

Her page is just one of several local efforts to support the Goddard family, who lost David just before the Thanksgiving holiday.

students have set up a memorial on campus to honor their late classmate. Friends have created a video tribute and are selling T-shirts in memory of David — with all proceeds to benefit the Goddard family.

Our hearts are breaking with the Goddard family as we mourn the loss of David's precious life. We all feel helpless and at a loss for what we can do to ease their pain. A memorial fund has been set up for family and friends who wish to make a contribution toward funeral and unforeseen costs.

Ronza Bargas, who helped create the The David Goddard Family Memorial Fund, is also organizing a community fundraiser, "Dollar$ For David," benefiting the Goddard family.

She said the event will take place from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Cowboy Alley on the Livermore High School campus and will feature In Memory T-shirt sales and have a memory banner people can sign.

Meanwhile, the Alameda County Coroners Bureau on Tuesday said no cause of death has been determined and that autopsy results are pending.

Police have said after his speeding Chevy van crashed into a parked car and a steel gate and flipped over onto its roof near the Portola Avenue/Murietta intersection.

Investigators said alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
