Livermore Fire Late Tuesday Night Deemed Suspicious

Livermore, CA — Police and fire officials are investigating a suspicious two-alarm blaze that destroyed a Livermore heating, ventilation and air conditioning business late Tuesday night, a deputy fire chief said.

Firefighters responded at 11:53 p.m. to Miller's Air Conditioning & Heating at 2182 Research Drive, Livermore-Pleasanton Deputy Fire Chief Joe Testa said.

Firefighters had to extinguish the fire from the outside of the building rather than the inside because the roof could have collapsed. Crews used two aerial trucks and large hoses to get the fire under control at 1:10 a.m., fire officials said.

Investigators this morning began trying to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Because of the amount of damage and the time of the day the fire started, they are calling the fire suspicious, Testa said.

No one was injured, although a firefighter received medical attention because of a medical condition exacerbated by the fire.

Testa said investigators have not yet determined exactly how much damage the fire did to the business and said adjacent businesses sustained minimal damage.
