Livermore Homicide Suspect Lied To Get Into Hotel: Report

Yonston Vazquez also reportedly spoke to the victim's family to justify his actions, according to the Bay Area News Group.

LIVERMORE, CA — Yonston Vazquez, the at-large suspect for a double murder inside a Livermore hotel, reportedly called members of the family of Lizabeth Murillo-Rodriguez to justify his actions, according to a new report from the Bay Area News Group. Authorities say that Vazquez told family members that he found Murillo-Rodriguez, his longtime girlfriend, in a room with Christopher Vera, the other victim, and the two struggled over a gun, causing it to go off.

Video and witness statements from the La Quinta Inn in Livermore show that Vazquez asked the attendant for a hotel key to Room 212, saying that he was staying there and lost it, authorities told the Bay Area News Group. The attendant said that Vazquez’s ID matched the name of one of the listed occupants. Footage shows Vazquez attempting to open the door with a key, but kicking the door open after seeing it was locked with a chain.

Soon after, Murillo-Rodriguez and Vera were found shot to death. Police are still searching for suspect Yonston Vazquez, 30, of Oakland. Anyone with information is urged to call LPD’s anonymous tip line at 925-371-4790.
