Livermore Woman Leads Union For Virtual School

Brianna Carroll is the president of the teachers' union California Teachers Association.

LIVERMORE, CA -- A Livermore woman is the new face of the California Teachers Association as it welcomes teachers from a virtual school. Teachers from the California Virtual Academies, an online charter school, recently joined the powerful union, NPR reported.

Brianna Carroll of Livermore told NPR that as a teacher for California Virtual Academies she only earned $38,000 a year.

"I think I just came from a family that prioritized that it's really important to speak up when you see things that are not morally correct and do something about it," Carroll told NPR.
