LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Battalion Chief Craig LaRont retired last week, ending 25 years with the department.
LaRont was the son of the assistant fire chief of Turner, Oregon, and always wanted to be a firefighter, according to the LPFD. He began his career as a firefighter paramedic in South San Francisco, and started at LPFD in 1999. He was promoted to engineer in 2003, and fire captain in 2006. In 2022, he was named battalion chief, and transitioned to the Training Department to impart his knowledge to new firefighters.
“Craig LaRont’s career is a testament to his unwavering dedication, resilience, and passion for firefighting. His story serves as an inspiration to those who aspire to serve their communities with the same level of commitment and integrity,” LPFD said in a statement.
