Woman Uses Sex Offender Database to Nab Man Who Exposed Himself to Her

Victim helps police capture suspect after finding him online.

A 56-year-old Livermore man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of indecent exposure after his victim identified him using an online sex offender registry,  Sgt. Erin Cole said.

At 8:10 a.m. a woman was walking in the 3900 block of East Avenue when a man, sitting inside his vehicle, called her over to ask for directions.

The man, later identified as Robert Johnson, was nude from the waist down, Cole said.

The woman went home, researched an online database of registered sex offenders in Livermore and was able to identify the man in the car as Johnson. She then notified police.

Johnson was later arrested by police at his home on the 3900 block of Yale Way after the woman confirmed his identity.

Johnson is being held at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin in lieu of $10,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned at 11 a.m. Friday in Department 701 of the Gale-Schenone Hall of Justice in Pleasanton.
