From Pirouettes to Advertising

A look into one of the folks who helps keep Livermore Patch running smoothly.

When we announced that , I playfully posted on Livermore Patch's Facebook page that our sales rep should groove along with the dancing Mr. Pickle.

Turns out I wasn't far off — our advertising manager used to be a professional dancer. (Enter my super-surprised emoticon here.)

Ladies and gents meet Elizabeth Jensen.

When Elizabeth isn't running around soliciting ads and promoting Livermore Patch, she's spending time in town and enjoying our city's restaurants, downtown shopping and vineyards.

Elizabeth, who was raised in Redwood City, moved into town four years ago.

OK, wait. We'll return to her bio soon. For now let's get back to the dancing!

Elizabeth began studying classical ballet at age 10. When she graduated high school, Elizabeth continued her craft and studied ballet in San Francisco while attending Canada Junior College in Redwood City.

"When I turned 21 I moved to New York City to dance professionally," she said.

In the Big Apple she met her would-be hubby, got married and had her only son. After several years Elizabeth returned to California to teach ballet in Berkeley.

She gave up standing en pointe and the pirouettes in 1989 to accept a career change and enter the world of business and marketing.

Maybe the ballet moves still do come in handy in her latest gig here at Patch: Elizabeth keeps on her toes while looking for every opportunity in town to help local businesses improve their online profiles.

"I really enjoy learning about the challenges our local businesses face as well as understanding their business goals," she said. "From there we can build an effective online advertising campaign that will help overcome the challenges and reach their goals."

Elizabeth, along with the rest of the Livermore Patch team, will be hosting our event on March 20. The lively workshop session is designed to teach business owners how to improve their connection to the community online.
