Motorcyclist Killed On I-580 After Run Over By Truck: Reports

The Thursday morning accident resulted in a SigAlert and multiple lane closures.

LIVERMORE, CA — A motorcyclist was killed early Thursday morning on westbound I-580 near the North Livermore Avenue off ramp after he was hit and run over by a truck, the California Highway Patrol told multiple outlets. The crash resulted in a SigAlert, multiple lane closures, and heavy traffic.

At around 5:40 a.m. Thursday, the motorcyclist tried to get between a sedan and a semi-truck, but was hit and run over by the truck, according to CHP. CHP spokesperson Officer Tyler Hahn told CBS News that the motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was traveling between 80 and 100 mph, and cutting in between vehicles before he was run over.

Multiple lanes of westbound 580 were closed down, except for the FastTrak lane, according to KTVU. All lanes were reopened by 8:23 a.m., though traffic remains in the area as of 11:46 a.m.
