LIVERMORE, CA — Old Mexico, a family-run Mexican restaurant at 1848 Portola Avenue, will close its doors Sunday, July 13.

"After many unforgettable years of serving our community, Old Mexico Bar & Grill will be officially closing our doors on Sunday, July 13," restaurant management said in a statement given on a sheet of paper to a restaurant patron, who shared it in a social media post.

"This decision was not made lightly, and while it’s bittersweet, we look back with immense gratitude for the memories, meals, laughter, and support you’ve shared with us over the years. You’ve become more than customers — you’re family.
We invite you to stop by one last time before we close, share a meal, a memory, and help us say goodbye the way we know best — with great food and warm hearts.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being a part of our story.
We’ll miss you dearly."

The restaurant serves all the Mexican staples, from nachos to quesadillas to burritos. They also offer a full Mexican seafood menu, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and a breakfast menu offering items like omelettes, French toast, and huevos rancheros.

"This makes me so sad!" wrote one commenter on the Facebook post. "My family has held our March birthdays dinner with friends and family there 3 separate years and have always loved it. I know Fernando has been wanting to spend more time with family and hope that's the reason for the closure. Thank you for many years of good food and family gatherings."
