Photos: Barrel Tasting Day a Delight Despite a Bit of Rain

The stormy skies didn't keep the oenophiles away from Livermore's wine country Saturday, where this weekend's event continues Sunday.
In fact, the dramatic weather made sipping the season's new releases from the cozy confines of dozens of participating wineries that much more special, and the sun even made an appearance in the afternoon.
I plan to head back to pick up a bottle of fruity semillon, at $24 a bottle it was the best white I tasted Saturday. They also used it to make a delicious white cheese fondue. Also nice at this folksy unassuming winery was a bottle-your-own option for $10.

Also notable was the zinfandel being sampled at l and a Sauvignon blanc that got my traveling partner to sign up for wine club.
