Retail Worker Thwarts Thieves At San Francisco Premium Outlets

Alexandra Garcia was caught on camera "springing to action to stop two people from taking off" with a rack of expensive clothes.

LIVERMORE, CA — Two thieves who attempted to run off with an entire rack of clothing from a high-end store likely didn't think their plan would be thwarted by a diligent store employee, but that is exactly what happened at Bank of Hype, a store specializing in footwear and exclusive apparel at San Francisco Premium Outlets in Livermore.

The rack that the thieves tried to take on Tuesday, June 27, held an estimated $15,000 in merchandise, according to a story published on KRON4 last week.

The retail worker, later identified as Alexandra Garcia, was caught on camera "springing to action to stop two people from taking off" with the rack of expensive clothes. In the struggle, Garcia falls to the ground but gets right back up and chases after the thieves. With the help of some good Samaritans, she eventually got everything back in the store.

“Not on my watch. If I could do it again, I’d probably still do it,” Garcia said.

While Garcia managed to stop the would-be thieves, they did escape capture, but Bank of Hype says they are working with authorities in this case. They are also offering a $5,000 reward for information on who the suspects are.
