The new coronavirus has changed life for all of us. Local businesses have taken a huge economic hit, but communities are finding creative ways to support the establishments they know and love.

Tell us about your business and its history in your town.

The Bar Method Livermore opened April 27 , 2019. We offer group fitness classes that are all low-impact, full-body workouts perfect for any age and fitness level. Our goal is to help you sculpt your entire body, improve posture and core strength and increase flexibility.

We have loved being a part of this supportive, tight-knit community! At least once a month since before we even opened, we have hosted barre classes at wineries around town and have welcomed many local businesses into our space for pop-up shopping days and workshops.

How has the new coronavirus impacted your business and its employees?

We have been closed since mid-March, and while we continue offering classes online, we have very few employees who remain on payroll. Our members have been amazingly supportive and we are so grateful to each and every one of them! However, as a newer business, the hit to our revenue and growth will affect us for months to come.

How can local customers support you now and in the future?

Local customers can enjoy free short workouts on our social media pages, @barmethodlivermore. We offer short workouts throughout the week to help you relieve stress and get active! We also provide full-length live streaming classes daily through a private Instagram account, @barmethodlivermorelive. Any and all help in spreading the word about The Bar Method workout and what we have to offer online would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have any words of encouragement for your community?

It has been inspiring to see the community pull together to support those in need as well as local businesses. While we are all struggling with this unprecedented situation in our own way, remember that this too shall pass. Sheltering in place will end in time, and imagine how amazing it will be to be back with friends again with renewed gratitude for the little things!
