$10,000 Reward For Info About Long Beach Student's Murder
A 21-year-old Cal State Long Beach student was killed in a drive-by shooting in the unincorporated West Compton area last September.

LONG BEACH, CA – A $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever killed a 21-year-old Cal State Long Beach student in a drive-by shooting in the unincorporated West Compton area is scheduled to be announced Wednesday.
Estephan Hernandez was shot on the evening of Sept. 28 as he sat in his parked car in the 1100 block of East 148th Street, having a conversation with a female friend, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Hernandez, who was studying sociology and set to graduate in April, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His companion was taken to a hospital for treatment of a single gunshot wound to the body, the sheriff's department reported at the time of the shooting.
The suspect vehicle, described in the aftermath of the shooting as a black four-door sedan, was last seen heading west on 148th Street and out of view.

The $10,000 reward, approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, will be announced on Wednesday morning at a news conference at Cal State Long Beach.
Sheriff's homicide detectives, Cal State Long Beach President Jane Close Conoley and members of Hernandez's family were expected to attend.
