17-Year-Old Suspected Of Shooting, Killing Ex-Girlfriend In Long Beach
Long Beach police arrested a teen boy in connection to the shooting death or his ex-girlfriend, authorities said.

LONG BEACH, CA — A teen boy was arrested after his ex-girlfriend was found shot to death in Long Beach, according to police.
The woman, who was identified as 21-year-old Justice Lopez, was found on Nov. 22 inside her home in the 900 block of Gaviota Avenue. The Long Beach Police Department attempted life-saving measures before Lopez was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
According to preliminary investigation results from homicide detectives, the suspect approached Lopez in her home and shot her in her upper body before fleeing the scene. Police identified Lopez's 17-year-old ex-boyfriend as the suspect and arrested him in Long Beach on Nov. 26.

"Following the arrest, detectives processed evidence and pursued leads regarding the murder investigation, which identified the 17-year-old as the suspect," LBPD said in a statement.
Detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office on Dec. 2. The motive for the shooting is still under investigation, detectives said.
