Body Washes Ashore Near Belmont Pier: Authorities
The deceased, a man in his 50s, was found near the water line and appeared to have been dead for an extended period, a fire official said.
LONG BEACH, CA — A body washed ashore Sunday morning near Belmont Pier in Long Beach, according to authorities.
Emergency personnel responded around 11:30 a.m. to the area of 36th Place and Ocean Boulevard, police said. The deceased, thought to be a man in his 50s, was found near the water line and appeared to have been dead for an extended period, according to Long Beach Fire Department Capt. Jack Crabtree, who said lifesaving intervention was not possible.
The Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner was contacted and the investigation was ongoing, police said.
