📰 Here are the top stories today in Long Beach:

1) On Sunday, officers from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) traveled to the 1200 block of 4th Street for a call of shots fired at 6:41 p.m. There were no injuries or suspects; however, officers “located strike marks to a building, indicating a shooting had occurred.” (LBPD)

2) Street food vendors and food truck operators can attend a health permit workshop on December 13. “The workshop will provide information about obtaining a Long Beach Health Permit as well as upcoming changes to the California Retail Food Code.” It will take place at Admiral Kidd Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees get details about being in compliance with Senate Bill 972, which will take effect on January 1. “We know obtaining a Health Permit can seem challenging, especially for small business owners, and this workshop will help ease the process for our food sidewalk vendors,” officials explained. (City of Long Beach)

3) Members of the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) took a break from their daily routine to head over to Miller Children's Hospital. Accompanying Santa Claus, they “made surprise bedside visits” to hospitalized kids. “It was the first time in three years that Long Beach Firefighters have been able to deliver gifts and spread holiday cheer in person.” (Long Beach Fire Department)

4) Outgoing Mayor Robert Garcia enjoyed himself at Monday’s Christmas Tree Lighting event. He reported that 6,000 people attended the event and pointed out that the city’s is “the largest tree in the region, even larger than the one at Disneyland.” Check it out for yourself; it's in front of the Long Beach Terrace Theater, and you can’t miss it! (Robert Garcia)

5) On Friday, a new art gallery opened at the Promenade. However, if you want to see it, you better hurry. The business at 375 North Promenade is designed to be only temporary, with the closing date not yet decided. It's named Ephemeral, and its “debut show is called Photo-Synthesis by Cory Billicko and Tony Barrera.” (Press-Telegram)
