LONG BEACH, CA — A bus-sized block of concrete washed up on the shore of Junipero Beach this week, according to reports.

The large piece of debris is more than 6 feet tall and 30 feet long and weighs between one and two tons, Marine Manager of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine Todd Leland told the Los Angeles Times.

“We’ve taken the last couple of weeks to slowly move the concrete about two miles from the west beach to our east beach maintenance location for a contained demolition and haul-off,” Leland told the Times.

According to the Times the hunk of concrete is believed to be a part of a dock that broke off during the February storms. It is suspected that the block was part of the Harbopr Light Marina adjacent to the Hotel Maya.

The block will be demolished, city officials said.
