CSULB Students Go On Hunger Strike In Solidarity With Palestine: Report
The Cal State Long Beach students' hunger strike began Monday, May 5, and is part of a movement seen in other universities across the state.
LONG BEACH, CA — Several Cal State Long Beach students have gone on a hunger strike in solidarity with Palestine and in protest of actions they say the university has taken that make them complicit in genocide, according to a report by the Long Beach Watchdog.
The strike by seven students at CSULB began Monday, May 5, and is part of a larger movement seen in other universities across the state, such as Sacramento State, San Francisco State and San Jose State, according to the report, which states more than 30 students are participating.
“The brain fog is bad, which is deeply unfortunate as it's finals currently,” one student told the Long Beach Watchdog. “As students, I think we would all much rather be focusing our energy on studying and preparing to end the semester off on a good note, but because of our university's complicity in the genocide, we don't have that luxury.”
