Driver Killed In 3-Vehicle Crash: Long Beach Police
Speed and impaired driving are being investigated as factors in the collision, police said.
LONG BEACH, CA — A driver was killed in a three-vehicle crash Saturday in Long Beach, according to police, who said speed and impaired driving are being investigated as factors in the collision.
Officers responded around 7 p.m. Saturday to the scene at Long Beach Boulevard and East San Antonio Drive, where they found the male driver unconscious inside a 2005 Nissan Altima in the northbound lanes of Long Beach Boulevard, police said, adding that the driver died at the scene. His identity is being withheld pending notification of family, according to police.
The Altima was speeding north when it rear-ended a 2018 Jeep Cherokee, causing the Jeep to travel across a sidewalk, hit a fire hydrant and collide with a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban in a parking lot, according to police. The drivers of the Jeep and Chevrolet stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators, police said.
