Eligibility Expanded: Independence at Home’s MSSP Now Open to Adults Age 60+

MSSP offers numerous benefits, including monthly contact with a registered nurse or social worker, home visits at least quarterly, and more.

Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP) is designed for older adults who need help with daily living and who qualify for Medi-Cal. Recently, eligibility changed from 65 and older to 60 and older allowing the program to help many more older adults in need. To participate, clients must be at least 60 years old, live within Independence at Home’s service area, and need assistance with at least two activities of daily living—such as bathing, dressing, mobility, or eating. Additionally, clients must have a need for care management services and be willing to take part in ongoing support, including regular phone calls and in-person visits.

The program offers numerous benefits, including monthly contact with a registered nurse or social worker, home visits at least quarterly, and support navigating health insurance and other complex systems. MSSP staff serve as advocates for their clients, ensuring their needs are met and that they and their caregivers receive consistent, personalized attention.
