Flooding Shuts Down I-710 Freeway Near North Long Beach

California Highway Patrol closed the Long Beach Freeway at Artesia Boulevard Thursday morning due to heavy flooding.

LONG BEACH, CA — Both North and South bound traffic on the Long Beach Freeway was closed Thursday morning due to three feet of standing water flooding the roads, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Traffic at Artesia Boulevard was diverted off of the freeway and freeway connections between California State Route 91 and Interstate 710 were closed to traffic.

CHP officers advised those traveling to use alternate routes due to heavy traffic. Officers were on site and there was no estimate as to when the freeway will be reopened and safe to travel on again as of 9:24 a.m.
