Greater Long Beach Area Candidates Forum at the Alpert JCC
A candidate forum for local Long Beach, state, and national representation at 6:30 pm, September 18, 2024 at the Alpert Jewish Community Ctr
The Alpert Jewish Community Center will host a candidate forum for local, state, and national representation on September 18, 2024. The coordinated effort brings together Jewish Long Beach, the League of Women Voters, and the National Council of Jewish Women. Candidates from Long Beach city council, state assembly, and congressional races are participating in this moderated discussion.
Long Beach 4th Council District: Daryl Supernaw, Herlinda Chico.
California 69th State Assembly District: Josh Lowenthal, Josh Rodriguez.

This is the second candidate’s forum in the Alpert JCC since Jewish Long Beach’s Advocacy committee took shape in 2022.

“We are fortunate to be able to partner with the League of Women Voters and the National Council of Jewish Women to discuss the important issues that face not just the Jewish community, but the entire nation at this time,” said Jewish Long Beach’s CEO Deborah Goldfarb. “It starts in our own backyard and grows from there. Every race is important, and we feel strongly that candidates must answer the questions that will help voters make an educated decision in the ballot box.”
The forum will include discussion on this year’s propositions and the public is invited to submit questions when they reserve a seat by September 13.
The talk show format forum will be moderated by the League of Women Voters. It begins at 6:30 pm and scheduled to conclude at 8:30 pm, with coffee and dessert at the Alpert JCC (3801 E. The Alpert JCC is located on the Weinberg Jewish Long Beach Campus and operated by Jewish Long Beach, providing programming for all ages and stages of life. Known as “Your Center for Life,” The Alpert JCC is a gathering space in which all are welcome to pursue early childhood education, after-school programs, fitness programs, aquatics activities, and summer camp, as well as to engage in Jewish life, culture, and education.
