Christmas is around the corner. Songs of the season are everywhere. However, some tunes are better than others. Last year, Rolling Stone compiled a list of the worst Christmas songs of all time. Which song is the one that is the worst in your book? So far, we have:

  • NewSong, ‘The Christmas Shoes’ - 37.5%
  • The Jackson 5, ‘I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus’ - 37.5%

📰 Here are the top stories in Long Beach today:

1) Crossing PCH is dangerous for pedestrians. A man was struck while crossing PCH at Cherry Avenue on Thursday at 6:25 p.m. He survived the accident, but the driver fled the scene. During their investigation, police closed PCH between Cherry and Gardenia. (Long Beach Post)

2) On Thursday, just before 1 a.m., a man crossing 27th Street at Long Beach Boulevard was struck and killed. The man was in a wheelchair and crossing in a marked crosswalk. The vehicle that hit him was a 2017 Toyota Camry. This driver remained on the scene. “At this time, it is unknown if the driver or the pedestrian had the right of way; however, neither speed nor distracted or impaired driving is believed to be a factor in this collision.” (Long Beach Police Department)

3) The Long Beach Fire Department now has access to a new Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicle. Stored at Fire Station 16, the ARFF vehicle comes equipped with “360-degree cameras with infrared thermal imaging to help see through smoke and steam.” It can hold “3,000 gallons of water, up to 420 gallons of foam, and 550 pounds of dry chemical extinguishing agent.” (City of Long Beach)

4) If you’re planning a cruise on the Carnival Miracle, you won’t be able to park at the cruise terminal. We learned on Tuesday that “due to limited capacity at the cruise terminal garage,” travelers have to find alternative parking. At this time, there's no word if the same problems exist for those booking cruises on the Carnival Radiance or Carnival Panorama. In response, the cruise line set up a shuttle service from the Convention Center, where parking opportunities exist for $20 per day. (CruiseHive)

5) When Egg Heaven at 4358 East 4th Street closed, it ended an era that began in 1969. However, we learned on Thursday that Egg Heaven will reopen “soon.” A former waitress has stepped up to partner with the current owners to welcome guests again. The former cook will also come back! The menu will be the same one we've known and loved — with the additions of chilaquiles, huevos anogados and huevos divorciados. Yum! (paywall/Press-Telegram)
