Homeless Man Arrested After Long Beach Stabbing: Police
A homeless man was arrested in connection to a Long Beach stabbing early Friday.
LONG BEACH, CA — A 42-year-old homeless man was in police custody Friday on suspicion of stabbing another man in downtown Long Beach.
Officers with the Long Beach Police Department were called to the 100 block of First Street and Pine Avenue at approximately 1:05 a.m. Thursday regarding a stabbing. When they arrived at the scene, officers found a man suffering from a non-life-threatening stab wound to the upper body, said the police department.
The suspect, identified by police as Matthew Chapman, ran away from the scene but was later located and taken into custody, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital by Long Beach Fire Department personnel.

Chapman was booked for assault with a deadly weapon, police said, and the investigation is ongoing.
