2 Teens Injured In Long Beach Shooting: Police Investigation Continues

The suspects fled before officers arrived, police say.

LONG BEACH, CA — Two teenage boys were injured in a shooting Thursday evening, Long Beach police say.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 800 block of Orange Avenue just before 5:30 p.m., the Long Beach Police Department said.

When officers arrived, police said they found three teenage boys.

Officers helped the first teenager, who had non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body, police said.

Paramedics with the Long Beach Fire Department took over caring for the boy and took him to a hospital, according to police. The paramedics then helped the second injured boy, who had a minor gunshot wound to his upper body.

The third teenager was not hurt, police said.

Initial investigation shows the teenagers “were confronted by a group of male suspects, and, after a verbal exchange, one of the suspects shot at the victims,” police said.

The suspects fled before officers arrived, police said, adding that an investigation is ongoing.
