Homeless Man Shot, Killed In Long Beach

Long Beach police are investigating the death of a homeless man that occurred Tuesday night.

LONG BEACH, CA — A homeless man was shot and killed Tuesday night in Long Beach, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at about 7:11 p.m. in the 800 block of Alamitos Avenue. When LBPD arrived they found a man, identified as 36-year-old Kendell Williams who was experiencing homelessness, suffering from gunshot wounds in his upper body.

"Officers rendered medical aid and attempted life saving measures until being relieved by Long Beach Fire Department personnel, who determined the victim deceased at the scene," LBPD said in a statement.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived and homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the incident. The motive and circumstances of the shooting are unknown, investigators said.
