🤔 Aggressive Urban Coyotes or Regular L.A. County Wildlife? Poll!

We live with raccoons and opossums. Do coyotes fall into the same category? They don’t need open space, have no problems building dens close to humans, and are becoming more and more visible on our neighborhood streets. What do you think? So far, 63.6% think we need to learn to live with them, 27.3% want them gone, and 9.1% don’t care one way or the other.

📰 Here are the top stories today in Long Beach:

1) There was a burglary call on Monday at the Prince Market and Deli, located at 6401 Cherry Avenue. A witness “told officers that she saw three male subjects climbing through the rear window of the building, who soon began removing items from the store through the back door.” When the PD arrived, they witnessed a suspect “rolling away an electronic game machine.” While the suspect fled, officers took a closer look and identified it as an “illegal gambling device.” There were a couple more of them inside. (Long Beach Post)

2) Can you buy a home in Long Beach for under half a million dollars? Yes! A Wednesday listing shows that it’s a one-bedroom, 529-square-feet structure at 1922 East McKenzie Street. (Patch)

3) We learned on Tuesday that Trammell Crow Residential bought a 6-acre property “from the Port of Long Beach for $29.5 million.” The parcel is located at Golden Avenue and West Broadway. Dubbed the Westside Gateway, the planned development includes two apartment buildings, one of which will reach 40 floors, making it the tallest building by taking the designation from the 35-story Ledcor Shoreline Gateway on Ocean Avenue. (Los Angeles News HQ)

4) In other real estate news, there was a report on Tuesday that the “14.19-acre property at 5900 Cherry Ave. in North Long Beach has been sold to a Blackstone subsidiary, with plans to redevelop the site into a massive warehouse.” The Planning Commission will look over the plans on October 6. There is no timeline yet for the development. (LB Business Journal)

5) Mark your calendars! The Long Beach Mineral and Gem Society is having a two-day rock and mineral show. The Signal Hill Public Library will host the event at 1800 Hill Street from 10 a.m. on Saturday until 4 p.m. on Sunday.
