📢 Fireworks Poll!
Fireworks are illegal in Long Beach. If the police are called, you may have to pay as much as $20,000 in response costs plus citation fines of $1,000. How do you feel about that? Please let me know your thoughts! Here are the top stories in Long Beach today:

  1. Someone posted an internet threat against Jordan High School on Monday, “with the person . . . saying they were going to blow (the auditorium) up.” After searching the campus on Monday evening and K-9 units sniffing for explosive devices but finding none, the LBPD has authorized the operation of classes. “Students, parents and staff will see more patrols around the area.” (NBC)
  2. On Monday evening, right around 9:08 p.m., the LBPD arrived at the 3200 block of Ransom Street because a man was seen “brandishing a firearm.” The suspect shot into a garage that was not occupied at the time. While the man fled, the officers found plenty of evidence. (LBPD)
  3. Educare Los Angeles at Long Beach, a preschool, had to close for a week after “an outbreak of hand, foot and mouth disease.” It is going to reopen today. A spokesperson for LBUSD explained that “this was the first closure of a district campus due to hand, foot and mouth disease in recent memory.” (Long Beach Post)
  4. We learned Monday that a 25-year-old Long Beach man has been arrested and charged with “dealing firearms without a license, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a machine gun and distributing at least 50 grams of methamphetamine.” The arrest came in the aftermath of a sting that netted investigators 52 guns, “31 pounds of methamphetamine, M30 pills laced with fentanyl and more than 200 rounds of ammunition.” His court date is June 14. 5. Mark your calendars! This Saturday, everyone’s Irish at The Pike Outlets. An Irish Fair & Music Festival brings in Uilleann Pipes, the Young Dubliners, The Fenians, Craic in the Stone and The Ploughboys. If you’re ‘of a certain age,’ you will appreciate L.A.vation performing U2 Tribute music. There’ll be artisan vendors, Irish food, beer, and an area for the kids to play!
