Local Star Student 'Loves Long Beach And The People'
We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one Long Beach resident who is having an impact.

LONG BEACH, CA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Renee Corona who nominated Maximus of Long Beach. Corona is Maximus's mother and said she is proud of all the work he puts in for his future.

Maximus has been volunteering in the community since age four, from delivering food to women's shelters with Food Finders, helping animals at Shoe String Ranch, distributing resources to underserved communities with Love in the Mirror, and organizing beach cleaning events through his Ocean Maximus project. Maximus is part of a 30-month fellowship he began at age sixteen and attends every Saturday. In addition, his short film 'Alma Vieja' was selected as one of this year's films on display at the Huntington Library and Gardens in Pasadena for the year. He was also selected as one of four students to participate in a new fellowship at Sunset Studios in Hollywood, where notable films and television shows like Judge Judy, The Outsiders, and La La Land were made.
